Casmir Autosport's early roots are from BoPal Racing, a team that was
created in the 1960s to compete in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) races
in the Chicago area. The team raced an Austin Healey Sprite at such
renowned tracks as Meadowdale International Raceway. The team's
driver was Bruce Bielanski, the father of Casmir Autosport's owner, Brian Bielanski.
After taking most of the 1970's and the early 1980's off, Bielanski
started a new team. In 1986, the team began nearly a decade of
successful competition in both SCCA and Midwest Council races.
Bielanski raced at Road America, Mid-Ohio, Blackhawk Farms, Brainerd International
Raceway and nearly every other track in the Midwest.
After a season racing a Zink Formula Vee the team ran a Sports Renault
(which later became Spec Racer Ford) and an Improved Touring Honda CRX.
Bielanski won several races and was a consistent podium finisher.
The team was a family affair with Bielanski's wife Gayle and his sons
Scott and Brian serving as the team's pit crew. Brian helped his dad
build the Honda and it didn't take long for Brian to catch the racing
bug. His work on his father's team is the foundation on which Casmir
Autosport is built.
After college, Brian Bielanski created Casmir Autosport in 1996.
Casmir is Brian's middle name, a family name that came from his great
grandfather. He built Casmir Autosport's first car, an Improved
Touring Honda Civic. Brian raced the Civic at the historic Road
Atlanta and Memphis Motorsports Park. Brian also tried a brief stint
in Formula Vee.
In 2008, father and son are reunited for Casmir Autosport's latest
effort. The is preparing a Mazda Miata for Spec Miata competition.
Brian Bielanski's off track accomplishments include a 20 year career as
a journalist (with CBS, CNN and in local TV), public relations
professional and entrepreneur.
Going forward Casmir Autosport is concentrating on the F1 USA
program. The timeline includes an immediate push to fund the Junior
Racing Team. The Junior Racing Team is the program we will use to
prepare our drivers for F1. We will concurrently begin establishing
the relationships and securing the funding to make our entry into Formula
1.
The ultimate goal... an American Formula One Driver's Champion and an
American F1 Constructor's Champion by 2025.
